Leadership Casper

The Leadership Casper program provides monthly in-depth studies of specific topics as they relate to the community. These sessions include site visits, tours and interactive programs that provide participants with a better understanding of community issues with a greater respect for resources and services provided in the Casper community. Team building exercises and personality assessments round out the program.

Leadership Casper will provide participants with both educational and participatory experiences with opportunities to meet community leaders and network with a wide array of people and is open to emerging and established leaders who wish to increase their leadership skills, knowledge, and participation in their community.

What Members Are Saying

Casper Chamber Members, in their own words, on the value of Committee Involvement

Tara Bigalke

Hilltop Bank

"I would like to thank Craig Valdez, Greg Dixson, and my husband Ben. Our Trip to Cheyenne was probably my favorite. Not being a Wyoming native, learning about all the history of our state, how the legislative system works, and how many great people and places we have in our state is astounding! This trip brought a lot of new friendship into light. We grew together as a group and I will now have some great lifelong friends because of this trip. We learned a lot; we saw a lot and we laughed together even more! Our morning sessions with Elissa Ruckle were all very valuable. One of the sessions that stuck out the most was Leadership Styles and Tendencies. Being able to come back to my team and express expectations and adjust my expectations by using the principles learned in the class helped me to become more flexible and adaptable to the different leadership styles within my organization. Trying to honestly see things from the other persons perspective, and not criticizing, condemning or complaining- are the two main points that have been a big focus when I am working on different teams, as well as coaching and working with my staff. Prior to Leadership Casper, I would struggle with really understanding other leaders’ ways of thinking, this class gave me some great strategies on how to work more effectively across different leadership styles.”

"I would like to thank Casper College Academic Affairs for this opportunity! My favorite session was Legislature days and the time spent at the sessions. Although I have training and experience in educational leadership, Leadership Casper provided the opportunity to learn a great deal about the differences and similarities in leadership outside my field."

Jennifer Beckstead

Natrona County Library

"I would like to thank my supervisors at the Library (Lisa, Kate, & Jerry) for encouraging me to apply and allowing me to commit work time to the program; my husband, Brandon, and babysitters for being supportive and taking on responsibilities; and of course my colleagues who are LC alumni, who shared their experiences and encouraged me to participate. The most memorable part of Leadership Casper has been the way this class has bonded from the very start. There is always laughter and conversation - it feels like a big family. Leadership Casper has helped me develop and refine my leadership skills and has also given me the motivation and courage to step outside my comfort zone. I was never interested in being in a management role but when the opportunity arose this year, I was ready. I found my assertiveness and confidence and asked to be considered for an available promotion, which I ultimately received. I've also learned a lot about Casper and Natrona County and can share that not only with our patrons at the library but with my family and friends.”

Cole Montgomery

First Interstate Bank

"I would like to thank Shawn Porter, Kermit Wille, and the rest of First Interstate Bank for nominating me and seeing my potential as a leader not only at the bank but in the community. My favorite session was visiting Cheyenne and the legislature - getting to have a sit-down dinner and a behind the scenes look at some of the activities and events that go on was awesome. Also, getting to talk to Speaker Harshman is always a great time. The greatest benefit to myself is the people that I have met through the program. Building relationships with this group of well-rounded people will help me for years to come. To add on top of that, the class time itself was very beneficial for me to see different leadership styles and approaches that I can take back to the bank and help better not only our department but help me progress through the bank as I hope to do.”
