Audio Icon to Present Talk at Casper College

Posted on November 26th, 2018

Bill Cheney, co-owner of Spectra 64 and Spectra Sonics, will be at Casper College on Monday, Nov. 26 at 5 p.m. to present a free talk on audio equipment and engineering. “Bill is an icon in the development of equipment used to form the music industry,” said Larry Burger, sound design instructor at Casper College. According to Burger, Cheney and his company, Spectra 1946, have been involved in hit records covering 50 years in the music business. Their equipment has been used by The Record Plant locations in both New York City and Los Angeles, and STAX Records where classic artists such as Otis Redding, Booker T. & The M.G.’s, The Spinners, and others recorded. Currently, record producer Dave Cobb, who has produced albums for Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell, and others, uses audio gear developed by Cheney. Bill’s talk should be informative and interesting. We are honored to have Bill at Casper college and hope many will attend this free event,” said Burger. In addition to the talk, Cheney will also give master classes to Casper College sound engineering students during the day. The free talk will take place in Room 104 of the Music Building on the Casper College campus. For more information contact Burger at 307-268-3320 orlburger@caspercollege.edu.
