CASPER – When the COVID crisis hit our community one thing became very clear; the need for a strong and vibrant local food system was needed more now, than ever.
Since 2012, Wyoming Food for Thought Project, (Food for Thought), has been working to strengthen and expand our local food system. Our aim – to create a vibrant local food system where every single person in our community has fair and affordable access to healthy food year-round. We’ve seen the huge strides other communities across the country and the world have made to accomplish this goal and we know that it is possible to accomplish.
Our work includes weekend food bags for children year-round, over 225 community garden beds where the Food is Free to anyone who wants or needs it, year-round farmer’s markets, 5 greenhouses, and so much more. There are so many parts of a local food system and, together with our community, we want to celebrate all of them.
This year, our celebration of local food, Localicious, will take place on August 15th 2020, on the beautiful banks of the Platte River at the Tate Pumphouse and Trails Center, 1775 West First Street from 5 till 8 pm.
To celebrate local food we will be hosting food trucks, local food vendors including Wyoming Sunshine Farm To Plate Food Truck, The Grab & Go Gourmet, Baked By Sarah, and Graze & Gather. One ticket price gets you as many tastes as you can handle!
The event will also feature a bar with a free ticket for one signature cocktail from Backwards Distilling and a cash bar featuring beer and liquor selected by the local experts at Wyoming Bootlegger Liquor. Donovan Short, the voice of the people, will be the Emcee for this celebration. There will also be fun & games with a chance to win a private party in your own backyard including dinner catered by a food truck, live music, and drinks.
Tickets are $50 each and include live, local music, lovely local food and drinks, and all the help you can give for the work of Wyoming Food for Thought Project. Localicious is Sponsored in part by Laramide Group, & Platte River Trails.
Vendors are welcome to apply to be a part of this fun event, by calling (307) 337-1703. Sponsorships are also available. All sponsorships include a pre-party at the Good Food Hub.
Wyoming Food for Thought Project is a local grassroots organization, whose existence is based on and reliant upon the involvement of the community. From one child giving one can of food, to larger sponsorships and grants, together as a community, we are changing the system for good.
