Tween Monday: Whatever Floats Your Boat

The Natrona County Library will host a root beer float party for students in grades 4-6 on Monday, July 16 at 2 p.m. Tweens will make a variety of floats using different sodas and ice cream flavors. All supplies provided at no cost. Call 577-READ for more information.

Never Too Old Book Club: The Port Chicago 50: Disaster, Mutiny, and the Fight for Civil Rights

A book discussion of young adult novel "The Port Chicago 50: Disaster, Mutiny, and the Fight for Civil Rights" by Steve Sheinkin will be held on Tuesday, July 17 at 6:30 p.m. at Crescent Moon Coffee Stop. The Never Too Old Book Club, sponsored by the Natrona County Library, discusses young adult literature with adult appeal. The group is open to both teens and adults, with parent-teen pairs especially encouraged. Meet the Sewing Machine and Serger

The Natrona County Library invites you to come meet the sewing machine and serger on Wednesday, July 18 from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Creation Station. A staff member will provide an overview, demonstration, and tutorial as well as answer any questions attendees may have. The Library's Creation Station, open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and 2 to 5 p.m., is a flexible, community, collaborative makerspace for individuals and small groups who can use STEAM-related (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) supplies and equipment to bring their inventions and creations to life. NCPL Players: Libraries Rock

Afternoon Book Club: The Wishing Spell (The Land of Stories #1)

An afternoon book discussion, sponsored by the Natrona County Library, will be held on Saturday, July 21 at 2 p.m. at Metro Coffee Co.Participants will discuss "The Wishing Spell" ("The Land of Stories" #1) by Chris Colfer. The group is open to teensin grades 7-8, and new members are always welcome. Participants receive a free drink, courtesy of the Friends of the Library.To participate, pick up a copy of "The Wishing Spell" in the Teen Zone. Double Feature
Saturday, July 21
The Natrona County Library will screen a musical double feature (and provide free popcorn) on Saturday, July 21 from 1 to 5 p.m. In the first film, a poet falls for a beautiful courtesan whom a jealous duke covets. In the second film, after being kicked out of a rock band, Dewey Finn becomes a substitute teacher of a strict elementary private school, only to try and turn it into a rock band. Both movies are rated PG-13. The Library's music-inspired summer reading program, "Libraries Rock," runs June 1 through August 31. Adults do not need to register but can pick up a summer reading game board at any branch and online. Summer Reading 2018 is sponsored by the Natrona County Recreation Joint Powers Board, McDonald's, and Serendipity Café. Call 577-READ for more information.
